5 Reasons Why You Need a Skincare Routine

Developing a regular skincare routine and sticking to it can be tedious. If you have ever watched a beauty guru’s skincare routine on YouTube, you might find that there are multiple products involved that make it very time-consuming. Do they seriously use 12 different things just to wash their face every morning and night?! Surprisingly, yes, and in fact, some people use even more! Thankfully, you don’t have to commit to a routine that extreme, but what do you even get out of taking the time to do this?

1. Cleansing Your Skin Is The First Step To Healthy Skin

Some people will tell you that a basic skincare routine is to cleanse, tone, and moisturize, but really it’s as simple as washing your face. The foundation of proper skin care is to cleanse your skin, and it is almost always the first step. Washing your face in the morning gets rid of the dead skin cells and oil buildup that pile up overnight. It also gives you a nice clean base for your makeup. Washing your face at night will remove the dirt that might have gotten on your face throughout the day.

2.Your Skin Will Glow

It’s amazing what exfoliating your skin can do for you. Exfoliation is the process of removing the dry/dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It can also increase blood circulation, which will allow you to achieve healthy and glowing skin. As with everything, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Exfoliating also strips away the natural oils on your face, and removing too much of those oils can lead to dry or irritated skin. Depending on your skin type, you should only be exfoliating one to two times a week. After you exfoliate, don’t forget to apply moisturizer to hydrate your skin.

3. Having An Established Routine Will Make Skincare Easier

I always say to put your time and efforts into achieving lifelong habits with lifelong results, not quick solutions with temporary results. You can think about skincare in kind of the same way as you do fitness. It takes work to get where you want to be, there’s a bit of trial and error, and the improvements will be subtle. While it can be an uphill battle, but once you reach the top, you will stay there as long as you simply maintain your regimen. It should be easier than when you began. You’ll have the knowledge of what products work and doesn’t work for you, and it should be smooth sailing going forward.

4. You Can Kill Two Birds With One Stone

There’s more to skincare than simply washing your face and preventing signs of aging. When you incorporate products that have SPF, like moisturizer, you are also protecting your skin from the suns ultraviolet rays. It is important to protect your skin from the sun because its rays can cause skin damage, eye damage, immune system suppression, and skin cancer.

5. You Will Look Like You Came From The Fountain Of Youth

It’s never too early to start a skincare routine! You can’t prevent time from moving forward, but you can cheat and make it look like time hasn’t touched you at all. By regularly removing the dull, dead skin cells and encouraging your body to replace those cells with new cells, you will emulate a youthful glow. Cell turnover slows as we age, which means it’s important to help the process move along through exfoliation. Protecting your skin from the sun will also prevent sun spots, wrinkles, and sunburns. Imagine looking exactly the same 10 years from now!
